2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid Release Date

While the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell model has been available in select markets for a while, the Honda Clarity Plug-In and Electric models had their grand debut at the 2017 New York International Auto Show this last April. The projected launch for the combined electric and gasoline 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is sometime later this year, in two trim levels.

In a recent press release, Honda said that this hybrid would be launching at dealerships nationwide. We aren’t sure yet if the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid will be joining the new Honda inventory here at Battison Honda, but if you are interested in getting updates on this model, and the likelihood of it coming to Oklahoma City, OK, in 2017, please contact a member of our dealership team.

Hybrid Powertrain

The powertrain of the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid combines gas and electric power to offer a vehicle with impressive mileage that can also take advantage of versatile fueling options (including plugging into a power outlet, or filling up on traditional gasoline). An electric motor rated for 181 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque will draw power from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a 17-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack. When plugged into a 240-volt power outlet (which is the sort of power outlet you might use for a washer and dryer or air conditioning unit) it should have a recharge time of just 2.5 hours.

Fuel Economy Highlights

The 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid recently received its EPA evaluations for mileage and range, and the results are encouraging for any driver looking for a distance electric vehicle. All the numbers below are EPA ratings for the 2018 model year only, and may vary in real-world performance.

  • All-Electric Range: 47 miles*
  • Fuel Economy Rating: 110 combined MPGe*
  • Gasoline MPG Rating: 44 city, 40 highway*
  • Overall Driving Range: 340 miles*

*Based on 2018 model-year EPA ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your MPG/MPGe and range will vary depending on driving conditions, how you drive and maintain your vehicle, lithium-ion battery pack age/condition and other factors.
