Tiguan GTE Active Concept Hybrid Specs

This five-passenger SUV concept uses rear-wheel drive with available four-wheel drive that can be manually activated, or which will automatically activate if the vehicle senses a loss of traction. The Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept runs off of two electric motors powered by a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack rated for 54 horsepower for the front wheels and 114 horsepower for the back. It also features a TSI gasoline engine that produces 148 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

The Tiguan GTE Active Concept will always begin driving using the emissions-free electric motors and seamlessly activate the gas engine only when necessary. It has a 20-mile all-electric range for comfortable, environmentally friendly town commuting, but that doesn’t mean that this vehicle can only be used for modest distances. With a full charge and a fresh tank of gas, the Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept should have a driving range of up to 580 miles.[/bscolumns]

Gesture Control Functions on the Volkwagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept

Of course the cutting-edge advances of the new Volkswagen Tiguan don’t start and end in the engine compartment. Inside the cabin the Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept features a new dashboard style that is optimized for easy and intuitive use. The next generation modular infotainment platform (MIB) in this concept vehicle accepts inputs via a 9.2-inch touchscreen and the new gesture controls. Certain common requests (like popping the trunk, for example) will accept hand and foot motions instead of inputted or spoken commands, thanks to advanced radar technology.
