2016 Chevy Equinox was named a 2016 Top Safety Pick

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just issued its 2016 list of awards for the safest vehicles on the roads of North America, and the 2016 Chevy Equinox was named a 2016 Top Safety Pick honors for its excellent crash tests as well as its top notch crash prevention technology.

Safety features on the 2016 Chevy Equinox

The 2016 Chevy Equinox received a top rating of Good in the small and moderate overlap front crash testing, as well as side impact and roof strength tests. The head restraints and seats also received a Good rating. The LATCH child seat anchors also received a second rank Acceptable rating for ease of use and convenient installation. All of these crash scores mean that even should the worst happen, the drivers and passengers of the Equinox are well protected.

The 2016 Chevy Equinox also offers front crash prevention technology with its optional Forward Collision Alert system available with the Driver Confidence Package II on the LTZ trim. Other digital safety features available on this excellent midsize SUV include standard daytime running lights, as well as available rear cross traffic and side blind zone alerts, and rear parking assistance for sliding smoothly into those hard-to-fit parking spots. The 2016 GMC Terrain, which is built along a similar structure to that of the Equinox, is also a IIHS 2016 Top Safety Pick in the midsize SUV category.

Basic OnStar services with automatic crash response is even built into the new Chevy Equinox for the first six months. This service is capable of detecting certain crashes and notifying an OnStar Advisor who will contact you through the Equinox if you need help. If there is not a response, the Advisor will determine your location and notify emergency personnel.
