Why do we celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11?
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we celebrate the end of World War I in 1918. Throughout the years, this day has become a way to honor our veterans and those who has given their lives in conflict since WW1 to defend our country.

What services will be held on Remembrance Day near Portage La Prairie?
A Remembrance Day service will be held at the PCU Centre in Portage La Prairie at 11 a.m. Seating will begin at 10:30 a.m., so come out early to get the seat you want. The PCU Centre main areas only will be open for the ceremony. More information here.
In Winnipeg, a Royal Winnipeg Rifles Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Vimy Ridge Memorial Park. It will be located at the memorial to the 44th Battalion of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. More information here.
Interested parties in Winnipeg that day are also able to give blood at the Canadian Blood Services location at 777 William Avenue. The drive will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.. Appointments can be made in advance. More information here.
