2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn Engine Options and Capabilities

The 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn has two engines available. Let’s take a closer look at these options here!

The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 24-Valve VVT engine that is coupled with an 8-speed automatic 845RE transmission. This engine features a compact, lightweight design with dual overhead camshafts, high-flow intake and exhaust ports, Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Throttle Control. It gets 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque and gets an estimated 17 city/25 highway MPG.

The available engine is a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI® MDS VVT engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic 8HP70 transmission. This engine has a Multi-Displacement System (MDS) with Fuel Saver Technology. This engine includes other upgrades like a 17-inch steel spare wheel, electronically controlled throttle, engine oil heat exchanger, heavy duty engine cooling, heavy duty transmission oil cooler and a next generation engine controller. This engine gets 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque and an estimated 15 city/22 highway MPG.
