2014 Memorial Day Seattle

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the ultimates sacrifices our service men and women have made and continue to make every day on behalf of us and our country.  Our freedom is far from free, paid for in years, wounds, and sometimes, tragically, the lives of our nation’s most heroic heroes.

At Seattle Metro Used Cars, we thank and recall all the fallen service men and women for all they have done.  They kept the USA safe and free by paying the greatest price.  This Memorial Day, take time out to truly appreciate and reflect on those who deserve it.  Here are a few events happening this Memorial Day that do not lose sight of the day’s meaning.  Make this 2014 Memorial Day in Seattle memorable and heartfelt with these patriotic remembrances and occasions.

Children’s Museum Event

Visit the Children’s Museum in Seattle with your child for some arts and crafts.  The holiday can be a difficult topic for children to grasp, and this allows parents and children to both partake in activities that can help make the topic a little more accessible.  The crafts include making paper poppies and flag winsocks, while there will also be a story time segment of the festivities.  This is a terrific opportunity for kids to learn the importance of the holiday.

Evergreen Washelli Memorial Day Event

This Monday, Evergreen Washelli Funeral Homes is having a host of functions for Memorial Day.  At 7 AM this upcoming Monday, there will be a flag placement ceremony.  A US flag will be set at each of the 5,000 grave markers at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Later on in the day at 1:30 PM they will also be hosting its 88th commemorative service.  After this ceremony, there will be a tour of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 3:15 PM.  This is a great way to show respect and admiration for the lives and sacrifices for those who served our country.
