Unique Attractions Washington State
It’s time go back out on the road and drive to some of the most unique attractions Washington State has to offer. Take a look at what we at Seattle Metro Used Cars has in store for you. This excursion sees us going to a ship that has sprouted a forest, a diminutive post office, and a humongous car collection.
The Overgrown Ship Hulk: Anacortes (80.6 miles, 1 hour 27 minutes from Seattle)
This incredible sight needs to be seen to be believed. A four masted schooner called the La Merced that traveled the seas in 1917 was scuttled back in 1966. Since then, a small forest has has taken over the main deck on the ship which was left to become a breakwater. Visible from the road, it is a great photo-op waiting to happen.
Smallest Post Office in America: Mineral (81.4 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes from Seattle)
While this probably would have driven Seinfeld’s Newman even crazier than he already was, he would have even had to admit that it’s impressive that a P.O. could be this small. About an hour and three quarters south of Seattle sits the still standing miniature mail center. No longer operational, it was constructed by early westward settlers to be a centralized spot to send and receive correspondences.
World’s Largest Privately-Owned Car Collection: Tacoma (33.6 miles, 38 minutes from Seattle)
We kept it relatively local for the last stop on this edition of Washington Wayside Wackiness. The private collection belonging to garbageman-turned-auto aficionado Harold E. LeMay boasts a wide range of zany rides. Ranging from a Stiletto car (yes, a car with a body fashioned in the same way as the popular, uncomfortable women’s footwear), the Fred Flintstone mobile from the 1994 movie, a rare Tucker automobile, and a strange green dragon hot rod, the Lemay America’s Car Museum has thousands of vehicles to gawk and marvel at.
