Regular car maintenance can be important all the time, but when it changes from summer to fall is a great time to take a little more care. One of the best ways to make sure your car in in great shape this fall is to check out the four essential parts of your car that tend to wear out or need regular replacing. They are the tires, brakes, wipers, and fluids.
Tires
Good tires mean better control on the road. Now that it is fall, you should make sure that you still have a good tread on your tires, and that they are properly inflated, with no sagging. It can also be a good idea to get a tire rotation. Driving on a flat tire can seriously mess up your vehicle, and even worn tires will cost you in vehicle control.
Brakes
Even if your brakes aren’t squeaking and your car isn’t shaking it can be a good idea to get your brakes periodically checked for wear and tear. Especially if you are worried about slick roads after a rain or ice storm it can be important to have brakes that will actually stop your vehicle when you need them to.
Wipers
Your windshield wipers can be easy to ignore until you need them, and then they can be very important. This fall, before winter hits in earnest, it’s a good idea to make sure that the blades can still do their job and keep your windshield clear in the event of rain, ice, hail or even just bugs. You should also check your windshield wiper fluid.
Fluids
Last but not least, it is always good to check on the levels of your engine oil and other fluids. This basically means that you should get your oil changed when it needs it. Depending on your vehicle, it may also be a good idea to check your transmission and radiator fluid now while the weather is just transitioning from fall to winter.
