Last month, we at Elgin Volkswagen wrote about how our favorite automaker is using a really cool newly developed method for disposing of EV batteries. Not only are we excited by this innovative procedure, but we’re delighted at the way in which it addresses the growing concern of how to handle EV batteries at the end of their lives, as well as how to reliably obtain the precious minerals needed to build them.

Man meditates while his self-driving car maneuvers through the cosmos. A calendar wonders, "When?"

Well, 2020 has come and gone, and we still have to put our feet, hands and brains to work piloting our vehicles to the dealership each morning. When will self-driving cars actually be available?

Volkswagen ID.4 Regenerative Braking Vs. Coasting

The Volkswagen ID.4 is getting a lot of attention, and for good reason: the model is the brand’s first all-electric SUV and first electric world car. One element falling into the former category is regenerative braking. Regenerative braking, which is utilized in many current EVs, causes a vehicle’s brakes to apply gradually and automatically the moment one takes their foot off the accelerator. The electricity generated by the braking friction is then used to recharge the battery.

The downside, for some, is that regenerative braking takes away a vehicle’s ability to coast. Does the Volkswagen ID.4 use regenerative braking?
