2015 Nissan Murano Safety Ratings take Center Stage

We’re pretty well-versed in all of Nissan’s safety features in these parts, and with good reason. It’s never been a secret that Nissan’s Safety Shield Technology, which protects, monitors and responds to external safety factors, is among the finest in the entire industry. However, we sometimes get excited when we get news from an outside source regarding our vehicles, and that’s what has happened today. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its results from the incredibly competitive “small overlap” tests, and it looks as though the 2015 Nissan Murano safety ratings were the toast of the midsize SUV segment.
At right, you can see the full results from the testing. Do you notice anything noteworthy about the Murano’s performance in the testing? Oh, you do?!
Yes, we’re being a little boastful, but given the results in this test, we believe that we’ve got a right to be. The 2015 Nissan Murano easily outpaced many of its nearest competitors, including the Hyundai Santa Fe and Jeep Cherokee. And not only is its perfect rating in this test pretty incredible, the tests in which the scores were achieved is amazing as well.
The “small overlap” test checks the structural integrity of the front corners of the SUVs, which is where many accidents regularly occur. Additionally, given the odd angles that accidents happen when an object hits the small overlap, these accidents are often most likely to cause the driver’s compartment to collapse. Long story short, performing well in these tests is extremely difficult and extremely important. The 2015 Nissan Murano took on these tests, as well as a bunch of its competitors, and truly didn’t flinch under the pressure.
So now, we can add “terrific safety ratings” to the long list of reasons that the 2015 Nissan Murano continues to be one of the most popular crossover SUVs available today. Sure, it’s extremely great to look at and offers some of the most sophisticated interior features available today, but Nissan is proving yet again that it hasn’t overlooked what’s most important.
