In the life of any auto dealership, the highlights of the year pretty frequently happen when you find out that a popular model is undergoing a redesign. A close second place would be when a popular model has an anniversary. But what if these two events happened simultaneously? Such is the case with the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, which has undergone a redesign to celebrate its 30th anniversary. So what does all this mean, as its release date approaches at Avondale Nissan?

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is set to arrive at Avondale Nissan in fall of 2016, and it brings with it a host of stylistic and performance upgrades. These are tied directly to its specs and features, meaning that we have much to be excited for as the release date nears.

A Revised Powertrain

You may remember that the outgoing 2016 Nissan Pathfinder employed a 3.5L DOHC V6 engine, which is the same size and displacement as the 2017 offers. Yet, they couldn’t be more different. The new engine has been tweaked to offer 284 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque, improvements of 24 hp and 19 lb-ft, respectively. Additionally, this causes an increase of 1,000 pounds in towing capacity as well, pushing that value up to 6,000 pounds.

New Design Features

As Nissan’s model lineup makes its way into 2017, many models are now offering the distinctive V-Motion Grille, and the new Pathfinder does as well. This new grille is accentuated with a sculpted new hood and redesigned headlights, which is framed on the outside by new 20-inch wheels that roll on all-new suspension. Along with its new color pallette, the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is truly something to behold.

New Interior Design and Features

The Pathfinder has truly made great strides in terms of sophistication in recent years, but the greatest gains have been made for 2017. A new 8-inch color touchscreen has been added to the center technology stack, while the intuitive controls have been revised as well. These are accompanied by a host of new safety and crash-mitigation features, including forward emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, and an Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.

All told, the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder seems poised to change the game for the large crossover SUV segment. We expect to see it in the Phoenix area at Avondale Nissan later this year, so visit our dealership to learn more or to schedule a test drive!
