Love House Kids Program

In recent weeks on our dealership blog, we’ve dealt with all forms of holiday goodness, from Thanksgiving info to gift ideas to Christmas tree tips. To put it simply, we at Avondale Nissan love our holidays, and we enjoy being able to share it with our community in modern ways such as this blog, which wouldn’t have been possible years ago.

However, there’s more to it than that. Much more. And that’s why our dealership and its employees have been helping to raise resources for the Love House Kids Program for the last four years.

Love House Kids ProgramFor those unfamiliar with the Love House, this amazing non-profit organization works with abused and neglected children to provide support and resources that the Child Protective Services system generally can’t. The vast majority of these children come from hopeless and damaging situations where they may be in dire need of counseling, tutoring, exercise, nutrition, and much, much more. But usually, despite the immediate need for assistance, these children and families don’t have access to help, resources or even a person willing to listen, and this is where the Love House Kids Program comes in.

The Love House uses 100% of its donations to provide education, job training, relationship-building, food and housing to area people in need. On a more personal level, however, the gifts that the Love House offers are of a more intangible nature. They build self-worth and self-respect, while instilling values and goals that are long-lasting and have a worth far beyond any monetary value. That is the true gift of the Love House.

Following this year’s Love House fundraiser, we received a letter from a former group home child who is now a Love House advocate. In her letter, she plainly and clearly explained just why groups such as this exist: “(Love House is) an organization that teaches children and teenagers how to stand on their own, but also to know that they have someone to lean on in times of need…. Living in group homes, teenagers sometimes lose sight of who they are, and they get beat down emotionally. But here, they are taught that no matter what happens in the group homes, no matter what is said, each of them is incredibly valuable. The Love House loves them for a lifetime.”

For all the talk of vacations and decorations and the like, this is the true value of the holiday season. And, while it’s natural to feel more generous during the holidays, the young men and women at the Love House face the reality of this uncertainty every day, every month, all year long. We at Avondale Nissan encourage everyone to take a look at the Love House Kids Program website to learn what they’re all about and, if you’re moved to do so, feel free to donate!
