2017 Kia Sorento IIHS Safety Ratings

Offering drivers more family-friendly features than ever before, the 2017 Sorento is now even more appealing for families. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2017 Kia Sorento with its highest safety rating, a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+). With this award, the Sorento joins the award-winning Kia lineup for accolades in safety and quality.
2017 Sorento Safety Features
The Kia brand has always shown a dedication to the safety of its customers and with the 2017 Sorento has provided drivers with the most advanced safety systems available. It has increased the availability of the Advanced Driver Assistance features from the 2016 Sorento and added new systems as well.
For the 2017 model year of the Sorento, Kia’s Blind-Spot Detection System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are available on the LX V6 trim and up having previously been available on the EX trim and higher. There is also an increased availability of the brand’s Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking. On the 2016 model, these systems were exclusively available on only the Limited and Limited V6 trims and now are available all the way down to the LX trim.
Added for the 2017 model year, and what helped the Sorento earn its TSP+ award, is the vehicle’s Forward Collision Warning System. When equipped with this system, which is also available on the LX through Limited V6 trims, the 2017 Sorento earned a “superior” IIHS crashworthiness rating making it a perfect vehicle for family safety.
