2017-18 Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo NBA MVP Odds

The Milwaukee Bucks are a team on the move. And while there have been a number of seasons in the past (like 2000-2001 and the early 1970s, for example) where other NBA teams “Feared the Deer,” the Bucks have largely flown under the radar the past several seasons.

That is changing before our very eyes with the 2017-18 Milwaukee Bucks squad, which is loaded with young talent like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Malcolm Brogdon, to go along with wise vets like Greg Monroe, Matthew Dellavedova, Khris Middleton, and others! Plus, in other good news, even the classic colors of the “MECCA Floor” from the 1970s and 1980s Bucks era got to reappear at a recent game vs. the Celtics at UW-Milwaukee!

While it’s very early in the NBA season, with less than 10 percent of Milwaukee’s games played up to this point at the start of November, we’re seeing a nice uptick in play from the star of the Bucks, Antetokounmpo, and the buzz about him perhaps being the league MVP next spring is quite real. See what his numbers are, and some other things to look forward to with the 2017-18 Bucks!

What to Look Forward to in the 2017-18 Bucks Season

NOTE: All stats are for games played through Nov. 1, 2017.

  • Giannis is Balling: Giannis, the “Greek Freak,” is averaging amazing numbers in his first eight games of the season: With per game averages of 31.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.8 steals, plus nice accuracy from three-point range, he is the total package and a force to be reckoned with. He has a nice chance to be 2017-18 NBA MVP if he maintains this pace (or comes close to it) and the Bucks win 50-plus games this year.
  • Middleton is Healthy to Start the Season: Guard Khris Middleton was hurt for much of last season, but he’s back to provide the scoring the Bucks need to complement Giannis’ output, with per game averages of 19.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists in the first eight games.
  • Bucks New G League Team: The new Bucks developmental team, the Wisconsin Herd, debuts in Oshkosh WI this month, and will be a place for young hoops players to work on their games, so they can help out with the NBA squad in the future! Brian Butch, Wisconsin hoops legend at the high school and college level, is an assistant coach.
  • Possible High Seed in the 2018 Playoffs: The Bucks are 4-4 in games played through Nov. 1, 2017, with 74 games to go, but they look like a team ready to improve on last season’s 42-40 finish. Last year they were a sixth seed in the Eastern Conference in the playoffs, but with the Cleveland Cavaliers looking off their game early on and the Boston Celtics missing a key player with an injury to Gordon Hayward, the Bucks look to make a move into the top four conference seeds in the 2018 playoffs.
